“I was the classic 40-something fulltime working mother, unable to lose the baby weight. I looked in the mirror a few months ago and decided that I didn’t want to be the person looking back at me. I have always hated gyms – feeling too self conscious and totally uncoordinated to even attempt an aerobics class. Time was also an issue – never enough and it was the excuse I used not to exercise at all. So I looked into getting a personal trainer.
David arrived the first afternoon for an initial consultation and we went through all my medical history, diet, lifestyle and what I wanted to get out of training with him. He is a guy that immediately puts you at ease and was really non-judgmental about my lifestyle – which helped. He is a fabulous motivator and that is exactly what I need, someone committed to getting me back into shape.
I can’t believe that I actually enjoy each session. He is really knowledgeable about the body and explains everything about each exercise and what it is doing for you. We work on all the muscle groups and I have lost weight but more importantly have really toned up I have given up smoking now and just ran my first 5km. It may not sound very much for some people but up until a couple of months ago I could only run for 30 seconds without needing to stop and wanting to throw up. That is David’s gift- he encourages you to achieve goals, he always makes the sessions interesting with equipment when they first appear out of the back of his van look like instruments of torture and he knows your limits. I feel fantastic, I am more confident when I walk down the street – I just feel good about myself again which I haven’t done for such a long time. I cannot recommend David enough- he is great guy, really patient and is a true professional.”

I had been concerned about my weight for a while when I came across the DS Fit van one day. I noted down the website, had a look later and I decided I just needed to pluck up the courage to call. I decided if it went to voicemail I wouldn’t leave a message. Fate had other ideas and David answered almost straight away. That was about 15 months ago; I have had at least one training session every week since then and have never felt better about myself! I have dropped almost two stones in weight and around 3 inches from around my waist. I feel more confident about myself and friends and family have really noticed a difference both physically and mentally.
David’s approach to fitness is holistic and is completely in sync with my goals. Each session is tailored to me yet different so that it doesn’t become boring or repetitive. We do a mix of boxing, resistance training, distance running, sprints, weights and circuit training. David can be a bit of a taskmaster but he doesn’t shout at me to work harder or faster. Instead he encourages me to work harder, always explaining why a particular exercise is beneficial. He also understands how my mind works now in terms of my motivation and has great patience – especially with my lack of co-ordination!
If you want to lose weight, tone up or improve your wellbeing then I can wholeheartedly recommend David. Not only is he able to work with you to achieve the results you want, but also he is a talented, humorous, knowledgeable and friendly chap. Two for the price of one.”
“David Staffell has been my personal trainer since August 2010 – which means either I’m a slow learner, or he’s very good! It’s the latter: training with David is top class. He devises a range of sessions hence it’s not boring, and he keeps records so there is a continued build-up of strength and steady weight-loss. He ensures improvements are gradual, not sudden and painful! Plus he’s intelligent and interesting, so mind and body get full fitness training. Strongly recommended!”

Health and fitness have always been extremely important to me; and I consider myself lucky to have realised this from an early age. My background is in the arts, as I have a 2:1 degree in English Language and have also worked as a freelance Graphic Designer, however I chose to become a personal trainer in 2007 because I wanted to share the importance of healthy living with others.
Meeting people from all walks of life, helping to make a difference, and seeing the effect a fit and healthy lifestyle has on a person gives me the utmost satisfaction. I am committed to the ongoing development of my knowledge of the industry and I enjoy reading, researching and staying up-to-date with the newest equipment on the market, and new exercise techniques. I am therefore able to provide my clients with the safest, most effective and freshest workouts possible, and pass on my knowledge to clients so that they can fully understand and share the importance and best methods of keeping fit and staying healthy.
